Solid Manganese Steel Frog A solid manganese steel frog consists of a single manganese steel casting. This frog is designed to receive the connecting rails therefore special bolts should be applied. It is mostly used on main lines with medium traffic. |

Selfguarded Manganese Steel Frog (flange frog) This frog is provided with guides or flanges above its running surface, which contact the tread rims of wheels for the purpose of safely guiding their flanges past the point of the frog. This frog consists of a single manganese casting and due to its peculiar design it eliminates the use of guardrails. Its use is recommended for yards and low traffic spurs where speeds do not exceed 48 km/hr. |

Railbound Manganese Steel Frog This frog consists of a manganese steel body casting fitted into and between rolled rails and held together with bolts. It is mostly used on main lines where traffic is very intense and very heavy. |

Bolted Rigid Frog A frog build essentially of rolled rails, with fillers between the rails held together with bolts. This kind of frogs are widely used from Class 1 to small mining turnouts. Rigid Bolted Frogs vary tremendously in sizes and rail sections they can be used for Class 1 use to mining purposes. |
